We caught up with one of our CELTA trainees today who has shared his experience studying with LTTC. Here’s what he has to say:
“The CELTA course is a real challenge but you can’t deny that it trains teachers how to teach. I personally have years of previous teaching experience in ESL but I still decided that the CELTA course was worth doing, since its the one certificate that schools and universities around the world expect teachers to have. The fact that I was able to do it on the Sunshine Coast at Maroochydore was a huge bonus.
Our group of 12 candidates is 7 days into the course now, and the progress we have made is amazing. People who had never taught before, and struggled in the first few days, are now delivering quality lessons to real students. I myself have really been surprised at how much Dave and Liz, our eminently qualified instructors, have been able to teach us in such a short time. The workload is huge, but there’s no denying its benefits. And on the personal side of things, all of us have really got to know each other well in such a short time, and that experience itself has really been something. We still have 13 days to go, but the mood is great and there’s plenty of humour and goodwill in the class room, I suspect we’ll all get to the end in one piece.”
Good luck for the final 13 days Tim!
